Steve Pearson Poetry

See the trees
Of thousands of years
Bestride the best and the worst of man
See myriad creatures
Born to their majesty
From the breast of the world that began
We celebrate
The wealth of the wild
With an intrinsic connection to our home
And celebrate too
The diversity meme
In the sublime scope our world’s genome
Like a mother
With timorous young
The tender Earth provides for and protects us
Majestically wild
And tamely provident
Though we’re unruly and impossibly reckless
She gives love
In all of our mornings
Gives her gift of abundance and variation
We are her children
We owe her our love
We must cherish and protect her perfection.
