Leaving Babylon

Can you feel the pain of their seething rage
Upon vile and hate-filled deeds
Like words of blood writ on a burning page
Scribed while America bleeds
The broken dreams of the broken society
Fallen at the feet of the dead
Lost to the cancer of a redefined propriety
Laid on the hateful road ahead
Too late, too late for the lost and the gone
Too late for freedom’s fire
Lost to the bloody streets of a new Babylon
Bloodlust beyond the wire
Yet the breath of a man is the breath of a man
Ignorant of irrelevant skin
All mankind began where all mankind began
Becoming from where we begin
