Another Eden

oh to be in the Highlands
to feast my eyes of grace,
affirm the stead of heaven,
pervade the supernal place.
my soul shall ne’er depart
while the mind journeys there
in lieu of Eden’s promise
the glory of Scotland fair.
on lochs or gasping hills
treasured skies, jewelled earth,
treasured breaths enjoyed
I surrender Scotland’s worth.
whither I return to wander
devouring her beauty unbound,
home or drifted land aglae,
the sudden foreign ground.
